Good old Anonymous is at it again. “I am more powerful than any circumstance,” he says.
Well, he (or she) is right. I am. I just don’t always act as though I believe it.
Being more powerful than our circumstances doesn’t mean that life will be easy for us. It doesn’t mean that we always get our way. It means that whatever happens, we can deal with the situation somehow, even if the only thing we can do is control our attitude about it. And whatever happens, we can learn something from it, or gain some quality that will allow us to deal with similar situations more handily in the future.
Being more powerful than our circumstances means that we can step back and choose the best response to the situation, rather than being locked into a knee-jerk reaction. It means that we can be assured that God has given us or will give us the requisite personal qualities and whatever help we will need to make our decisions, solve our problems, or answer our burning questions. All we have to do is trust that this is so. 🙂
