Ego says, “Once everything falls into place, I will find peace.”Spirit says: “Find peace and everything will fall into place.”
Why does our Ego want everything to fall into place first? Because Ego believes that happiness comes from outside itself. Ego believes that happiness comes from money, status and prestige, power over others, or any number of other things, such as sex, food, cigarettes, alcohol and drugs. What most of us mean when we talk about things falling into place is that our lives are without any major problems or stresses, we don’t owe any money, we are at optimum health and at our ideal weight, and we have a fulfilling relationship complete with satisfying sex. If our lives are out of balance in any one of these areas, we say that things haven’t fallen into place yet. Ego believes that it cannot be happy if anything is out of place.
Spirit (Soul), knows differently. It knows that happiness means balance and contentment. Finding peace means making a conscious choice to be grateful for what we already have, and to stop worrying about the future. Soul knows that when we are feeling content, our positive vibrations begin to attract positive people and events into our lives, and that this is the mechanism whereby things really do fall into place. This isn’t to say that whatever happens will be what we have been hoping for and dreaming of. Sometimes it won’t. But it will be best for our growth and maturation as Soul, and it will be for everyone’s highest good. And… it will very often be much, much better than what we were hoping for and dreaming of.
Finding peace isn’t something that automatically happens when everything in your life is perfect. It’s a choice that you make to feel a certain way, no mater how chaotic or unpleasant things may be for you right now. Finding peace means realizing that your problems were of your own making, and that, consequently, you have the power to solve your problems. It means letting go of anger, fear, resentment, worry, and bitterness. It means deciding to let go and let God. It means realizing that you have all kinds of help available to you, if you will accept it. It means knowing that you are loved by God unconditionally, and that you have the resources within to tackle any situation that life hands you – because you were created that way on purpose. 🙂
